The above video ( although unfinished ) will be one of seven stories focusing on University of Melbourne academics and the transformational work they are doing.

For each of the seven stories we took a series of raw reportage style photography that shows the academics in their natural state.

The stories that will be told in the series:

  • Dr Shawn Michael Fletcher takes core samples from the earth to establish and research how Indigenous Australians managed the land centuries ago.

  • Particle physicists Elizabetta Barberio and Maddy Zurowski built a lab 1km underground to search for dark matter.

  • Dr Denny Oetemo and his construction of a robotic exoskeleton to help paraplegics regain independence through mobility.

  • Dr Sharon Lewin and Geoff Cummings established the Doherty Institute to focus on long Covid therapeutics and help the millions suffering.

  • Prof Leah Ruperrner is teaching girls how to be leaders in the male dominated world of technology.

  • Dr Denzil Furtado is leading the charge in MRNi technology - helping those in need.

  • Dr Duncan Meskall describes the similarities between knowledge and Jazz music.

2023 Brand Repositioning


The work featured here is a small sample of the new UoM 2023 brand platform. A manifesto piece accompanied by seven unique content documentaries featuring the ground-breaking work of the UoM’s academic staff. These spearhead the platform, along with an online content hub, reportage-style OOH, a podcast series and on-campus activations.
