One camera feature, three of you, thirty-five billion views. The most-watched hashtag challenge TikTok has ever run.

The Galaxy S21 shipped with 8K Video Snap, a feature that pulls a high-resolution still out of video while the camera keeps rolling. It is a genuinely useful piece of engineering, and a very hard thing to sell off a spec sheet, particularly to Gen Z and young millennials who were never going to read one.

So we built the demonstration into the format itself. Working with TikTok, we designed a custom filter that snapped users in place three times while the video kept rolling, so every participant produced three versions of themselves in a single unbroken take: the feature, performed. 88rising and Indonesian rapper Warren Hue supplied the original track, and more than 100 creators launched it across 14 markets.

#VideoSnapChallenge ran for nine days and became the most successful hashtag challenge in TikTok's history: 7.5 million videos created, more than 35 billion views, and over 50,000 clicks through to Samsung, helping make the Galaxy S21 a standout performer at launch.
